It doesn't matter how good your ideas are or what the policy is. You can't make changes without winning a majority in government. And you can't win without knowing the rules of the game.
Civics matters. Over the next year, Indivisible St. Louis will be drilling down to explain government at every level - from our local level in St. Louis, to our state level in Missouri, all the way to the national level. This isn't your high school civics class, either. This is a roadmap so you can understand how to get more involved with your local government.
For our first civics class, we'll be focusing on St. Louis, where municipalities, unincorporated areas, townships, wards, and overlapping school districts make local government confusing. Our featured speaker, Nancy Thompson from the League of Women Voters, will provide clarity on how these systems work. We'll also be joined by Mary Nichols from The Training Institute of NWPC-STL, who will share how you can prepare to run for office and win. Finally, we'll be joined by a Meredith Sumenek, who is running for the empty house seat in Missouri's 95th House District.
Join Indivisible St. Louis's August meeting, which will take place at 7PM, August 11, at Kirkwood Baptist Church, which has generously allowed us to use their space for free.
Curious about Indivisible? What is Indivisible STL doing in the current political climate? This is the place to be! Come at 6:30 to meet and mingle with leaders and members.
