Policy Matters: World Happiness Report & Abundance, by Ezra Klein
Join us for this Town Talks Live discussion on policy for 2026 and beyond. Bring your brown bag brunch, (eating together is one the measurements of happiness in this report) and your ideas to enhance the well-being in our community, as we share the World Happiness Report, that came out this March. Let’s engage in discussion on how this informs us to improve the well-being and happiness of our own community, and to advocate for the future! This year’s report is “Caring and Community!” - just what we need! Along with this, Erza Klein’s latest book, Abundance, is the perfect companion to this report. He discusses policies that created the situation we are in and ways out! Important knowledge and understanding to internalize for your dialogue with others as we advocate for a stronger Democracy & future. Focus is on Housing, Transportation, Energy and Health.
In this TALK, we will . . .
Brainstorm what we believe brings an individual happiness, a community and a nation.
Dive into the WHR - We will look at each section and dissect the data collection technique and the results. Where does the US score relative to other democracies?
Look at this in our own lives (Caring/sharing, sharing meals with others, living with others, connecting with others, supporting others, trusting others, giving to others) We may also look back at other recent reports.
Discuss how we can use this data to develop policy that can help us build a happier life for oneself, and improve well-being in our own communities.
Abundance . . . Discussion of suggested future policies to rectify the flaws of the past and how these tie into the WHR.
Next steps . . . How do we get this to our friends, neighbors and representatives to enact policy changes in the public forum and political platforms.

Born Here, Belong Here Protest (July 16)
Our newest member of the leadership team, Chad Bernstein, joins us from the South County STL Resistance. Every Wednesday of this month, he's hosting a weekly protest. This Wednesdsay, you can join him at the South Rock Hill Overpass at I-44 to protest Trump's attack on Birthright Citizenship. Bring your signs and your voices, and stand up for one our core, constitutional rights.

Good Trouble Rally
Good Trouble Lives On is a national day of nonviolent action to respond to the attacks posed on our civil and human rights by the Trump administration and to remind them that in America, the power lies with the people.
On July 17, the anniversary of Congressman John Lewis’s passing, we’re taking action across the country to defend our democracy and carry forward his legacy of Good Trouble.
From voter suppression bills like the SAVE Act to the criminalization of protest, the Trump administration is launching a full-scale attack on our civil and human rights. But we know the truth: in America, the power lies with the people, and we’re rising to prove it.
This is more than a protest; it’s a moral reckoning. A continuation of the movement Lewis helped lead, and a new front in the struggle for freedom.

The Good Trouble Digital Protest
Join us on July 19th, 2025, and let’s flood the feeds, jam the inboxes, and break the internet for justice. Learn more here: https://www.digitalgoodtrouble.com/

Born Here, Belong Here Protest (July 23)
Let's join together and show that the 14th amendment matters, because if Trump is deporting the children of immigrants, how soon until he starts revoking citizenship of average Americans? Bring your signs and let's put our message out there!

Mission: Possible
We are not powerless. We can win back congress by voting Ann Wagner out of office. We can stop state legislators from stripping away our hard-won constitutional initiatives. We can push back. And we can win.
Join Indivisible St. Louis at the Lodge Des Peres as we introduce two of the most important political tasks in the fight ahead: (1) voting out Ann Wagner and (2) voting in a citizen’s initiative that stops Republicans from undermining the will of voters.
We’ll be joined by Toni Easter, from Respect MO Voters, and Craig Zumsteg, from Heartland Wins. Please register in advance. They’ll tell you what you can do to push forward these two critical initiatives.
